Litter beetle: refining traditional methods to combat a persistent pest
The litter beetle (Alphitobius diaperinus) is one of the most common and persistent pests in poultry facilities. It reproduces quickly, carries disease, affects crop performance, damages buildings, and is difficult to control. As the name suggests, litter beetles are more of a problem in floor-litter systems, so are more of an issue for broiler farmers than commercial egg farmers.
