In the face of threats like avian influenza, the most effective measure a farm can take is tightening biosecurity measures as much as possible, and vehicle disinfection at the farm entrance is an important part of this. We recently installed a comprehensive vehicle disinfection system at Devonshire Poultry Ltd, Little Westcott Farm – replacing a hose and reel set-up at the entrance to the farm with a Sanigene 360 disinfection gate.
Ed Lanning - Devonshire Poultry Ltd, was keen to ensure that vehicles entering his site were being thoroughly disinfected. His existing set-up relied on truck drivers exiting their vehicles and manually disinfecting the vehicle. By installing the Sanigene 360 gate, he took complete control of this process.
The Sanigene 360 disinfection gate is a game changing solution to vehicle disinfection - it is the only vehicle spray system in the UK that sprays the entire exterior of the vehicle, including the roof. The system offers exceptional coverage, using up to 42 spray nozzles to thoroughly disinfect vehicles entering your site, including 11 nozzles specifically aimed at the wheels and chassis, targeting those hard to reach areas.
A heating coil runs through the system to ensure that it is still fully operational in temperatures below freezing and its reflective elements ensure it is clearly visible in the dark. Automatic sensors mean that the driver can simply remain in the cab whilst the truck is disinfected, which only takes 15-25 seconds.
Water usage is low and dilution levels are adjustable. Its robust design will ensure years of performance with minimal maintenance, making it a very cost-effective option for those who take biosecurity seriously.
An Interhatch team installed the system and provided training to the farm staff. Product Manager Rohan Hughes commented:
